Biography:

Leila Farjami was born in Tehran, Iran in 1972. She migrated to US with her family in 1986. She has been writing poetry since the age of sixteen. Most of her poems are in Persian, her beloved maternal tongue. In 2001, she published her first collection of poetry named "Seven Seas, One Dew Drop" in Iran. She is in the process of publishing her second book of poetry titled " Buddha's Dilemma". Currently, she is translating short stories written by contemporary Iranian writers into English and collecting poems by Iranian expatriate poets for an upcoming anthology (a shared project with Mana Aghaee, an Iranian poet in Sweden).

Activity:

I have been writing poetry for at least 16 years; my work is both in Farsi and English. I published my first book of poetry in Iran two years ago. I am also a translator.

Published poems in USA and Iran in important literary magazines such as Simorgh, Bokhara, and Karnameh. I published my first book of poetry in 2001 in Iran by the name of "Seven Seas, One Dew Drop".

My new project is to translate an anthology of contemporary Persian Poetry into English and get it published.
